Once again the American people are forced to watch the racial gulf that is at the heart of the myriad problems that we face in this election year..again in a two-week period we have the fatal shootings of two black men by police in less than two weeks. In one case the officer has been charged with manslaughter. The other case is already being tried in the media. The black community of Charleston went on a two night rampage, the national guard, and the state police took up their rehearsed positions. The stage was set.
A mostly young black group or mob it depends on how one looks at the crowd were ready to destroy the property of others not because the were angry but saw this as an opportunity to take, and destroy the property of others who are not like themselves. Donald Trump took the opportunity to say drugs, poverty, and a high crime rate in the black communities shows we need the heavy-handed fist of law enforcement to contain the decline of the inner cities.
Those who strike out at perceived injustices feel a sense of entitlement to do so at the appropriate time, and those charged to keep the peace are entitled to respond in kind. This is the way it was, and sadly always will be.
