A State Of Mind

Santa Barbara is not just a location in California. For those lucky enough to live there, and those who visit it is indeed a ” state of mind.” President Reagan had a ranch there, Michael Jackson’s Neverland was close by. Oprah has moved there. I went to school there. I was like many others surprised by what happened in Isla Vista Friday evening. A person living in this small university town went on a rampage against his neighbors, and roommates after posting several  videos on youtube.

This was a person who appeared to have a pretty good life since he spent a lot of time going to school. He was an individual who probably felt alone in a crowd of thousands. There are a lot of people who are going through the same feelings despite the Internet, and social media some us cannot seem to fit in it has always been that way. When thoughts in the mind get out of control we all see the results on our media devices, and try to explain it away to our collective satisfaction.

The mind is indeed a terrible thing to waste. The ability to think, and make decisions is a gift we all posses. The state of our individual thoughts both positive, and negative, and the results of those thoughts will always affect those around us, and those we will never know.
