A Second Life

The misery that we are exposed to through the media about what is really going on in the Philippines is mercifully non visual for the time being. Those who escaped death and mutilation as the storm raged have to deal with being alive with what is called survivors guilt. I am alive but what do I do now?
When we survive a disaster whether it is natural or man made it makes you special because you have survived. You have been given a second life. Those who don’t survive the daily grind that we all face from birth. We read about daily in the newspaper, Internet or mostly on an old friend the television screen.
I look at the stories of people going through a lot of suffering, but deep down inside I say I’m glad that’s not me on the screen.
We all need at some point a second chance at life, and we are constantly reminded by world events both human, and what we call mother nature should remind us all that life is short, and few of us get a chance at a second life. Time is not an enemy unless we try to kill it
